Real Estate & Zoning
RWL represents developers whose goals often require a careful balance with governmental constraints. Richard “Chip” Reed, is the chairman of the real estate and zoning practice group, where zoning, land use and real estate law overlap dynamically with local politics. Major developers seek our advice because we quickly grasp the situation and implement strategies to achieve positive results. A major portion of the firm’s practice is in Prince George’s County. Our firm is particularly experienced in public-private real estate development. Our clients include national and international corporations engaged in major developments that involve complex infrastructure and financial arrangements.
We have considerable experience in the mixture of laws relating to zoning and subdivision, sewage and water usage, and community opposition. Residential, mixed-use, and commercial industrial developers look to us for leadership.
Although most work involves representation at administrative agencies such as the Zoning Appeals Board and the Planning Commission, our attorneys regularly litigate cases in Circuit Court as well as Appellate Courts.
In addition, Joel Rozner represented the Washington Redskins and Jack Kent Cooke in the successful effort to build the NFL football stadium in Prince George’s County several years after he resigned as People’s Zoning Counsel. Chip Reed is the past chair of the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce.
